hi! I'm alex

Kelly and Nick’s modern wedding, using a black and white floral colour palette, made quite the statement on their special day. The modern flowers at Elora Mill fit so well with the stunning wedding design from Laura Olsen Events, brought to life by an amazing team of vendors.

Modern Black and White Flowers

For Kelly and Nick, our direction was to provide a floral design with more non-traditional flower varieties. So, less roses and more unique, modern flowers like anemones and calla lilies. Focusing on a base of white flowers, with pops of dark blooms, we used ranunculus, anemones, white majolica spray roses, lisianthus, and stock. For the darker tones, we used chocolate cosmos, black calla lilies, and berries.

For the bridal party, we took a modern approached and designed mono-botanical bouquets. Since this bridal party was on the larger size, we thought it may look over powering if all the bridesmaids were carrying smaller version of the bridal bouquet. By creating small mono-botanical bouquets, the group’s bouquet style was refreshing, yet still classic. We designed a few bouquets of just ranunculus, spray roses, and anemones.

The Reception

Elora Mill’s Grand room is truly a space that can be transformed into whatever style you’re looking for. The charcoal grey runners and tablecloths used for Kelly and Nick’s reception tied in perfectly with the overall monochromatic styling of the wedding. We selected the best mix of black, white, and brass vase and candle rentals, ensuring they had modern lines or a bold flair. By alternating tables layout designs through the room, we were able to tie in all the elements and create visual interest for their guests. Black taper candles were another way we were able to layer in that colour into the tablescape. Throughout the harvest tables, we used a mix of compote arrangements, bud vases and mini arrangements.
